A Word About Illegal Dumping
Submitted by Ron Caron, 6/17/2005

The following is posted at the request of Kevin Lahner, Director of Governmental Relations for the Town of Flower Mound:

Illegal dumping and trash and debris stored in unauthorized locations are a public nuisance and can cause public health and safety concerns. Debris illegally dumped or stored on property such as scrap metal, concrete, household trash, and yard waste not only attracts snakes, rats, and mosquitoes, but it is illegal.

If an act of illegal dumping is observed, a resident can report it by calling the illegal dumping hotline at (972)874-JUNK.

The cost for cleaning up a dump site is expensive, and the negative impact on the environment from illegal dumping is substantial. In order to prevent the storage of trash and debris on property as well as illegal dumping, bulk waste is collected by the Town's waste service provider twice a month.

A special pickup also can be scheduled by calling (972)422-2341. A collective effort between citizens and the Town to identify and eliminate dump sites and illegal debris storage will help make your community a safe and healthy place to live.

WARNING!!

We have seen an increase in property crimes committed in our area this Summer.
The offenses include many car break-ins, car theft, and other types of theft from garages and yards. Please keep your
vehicles locked when parked, and preferably park your cars in your garage. Keep your garage door closed
when you are not in the immediate vicinity.
It only takes a second
for someone to steal valuable items from
your garage.
Or worse, it would only take a second for someone to gain access to your home
through the garage. Police have reported garage doors being opened by remotes left
in cars. Some newer garage door opener units have a switch that will deactivate remote operation. Don't make it easy for the criminals!!

Our HOA is offering a $100 REWARD
for information leading to an arrest of the person or persons responsible for the thefts or vandalism. Informants will remain confidential. Contact the Flower Mound Police Department if you have information.
